Donald Steiner
Founding Partner
Don founded Webster in 2003. Prior to Webster, Don was the Founder and Executive Officer of Cornerstone Brands, General Partner and Co-founder of Boston Capital Ventures and held senior positions at The Gillette Company. Don has over 40 years of experience in sourcing and structuring private equity transactions both on a direct basis and through a broad network of referral sources. Many of the chief executive officers, private equity managing partners and leaders of financial institutions with whom Don has worked in the past have invested in Webster as Limited Partners.
In 1994, Don conceptualized and founded Cornerstone Brands. He raised $70 million in equity financing, identified and recruited the senior management team, developed and implemented the business plan and completed six acquisitions of growing catalog companies. In 2005, Cornerstone Brands was sold to IAC Interactive Corporation/Home Shopping Network for $750 million. Prior to founding Cornerstone Brands, Don Co-founded Boston Capital Ventures in 1983. Boston Capital Ventures raised approximately $130 million over the following ten years and invested in a wide range of companies in the business services, technology and healthcare sectors, among others. Several of these companies followed a core company buy and build strategy, which Don subsequently applied at Cornerstone Brands. Prior to Co-founding Boston Capital Ventures, Don spent ten years with The Gillette Company where he served as Group Product Manager of the Personal Care Products Division, helped launch The Gillette Appliance Division and formed The New Business Development Group.
Don was educated at Rutgers University and Harvard Business School.
